The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was honored to donate more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.
“Last fall, I had the opportunity to get a group together to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a crucial part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to celebrate her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent her younger years wondering if and where she would get her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to utilize the food they receive to make nutritious, long-lasting meals. They also provide resume assistance along with budgeting and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Everyone was so thrilled that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even took time to show us their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
